What I Want Now- Birthday Edition!!!

So today is my 24th birthday, and there are a few things I will be wishing for when I blow out the candles on the fabulous cake my mom is making for me!
I am totally into florals right now, with the ruffle detail on the top, this dress is just too cute!!!


I love this dress in theory; the color is beautiful!  I would have to try it on and see how these ruffles look on my hips, but it so light and gorgeous!!

This floral high waist skirt is really cute; I an see it worn with a tank/wife beater and some cute stilettos or some cute little flats and gladiator sandals.


I have been needing and wanting some cute little flats, that aren't boring.  I love the neutral color, and the ankle tie is so cute.  These would be cute with a skirt, cropped trousers, jeans, or some cute shorts.
I need some new tan/brownish shoes, and these would be great! I can imagine them with the blue ruffle dress above; too cute!!
Anyone who knows me, knows I love a statement shoe!  I saw these on steve madden's website, and I have got to have them!!  The light suede is great for all seasons, and the blue is divine!!


So there is my birthday wish list; if/when I get any of these items, I will be sure to share!!!

I Wouldn't Know You Like I Do


So I was sitting in my car Monday night waiting on my boyfriend to get something at his mom's house and "I wouldn't know you like I do" by James fortune and fiya came on the radio. It got me to thinking (I love good music because it always gets my mind going) if I hadn't gone through things in life, I wouldn't know Jesus like I do (still have knowing to do :-)). The bible says trials come to test your faith; sometimes God has to send us through things so that we may fall on our knees and come to Him. It's so awesome that God doesn't give up on us; he simply knows what to do to get us to come back to him and allow him to show up in our lives!!! Everyday I watch the news and it reminds me of all the things going wrong in life; I'm unemployed, trying to maintain, and it can become easy to get in the dumps or forget about how good God is. However, it is in these times that I realize that my relationship with God is getting better because of the times and experiences I am living right now. So the next time your tribulations get you down, count it a blessing for God to be reaching out to you saying "come closer; get to know me better." Isnt that a great way to look at it?!

What I Want Now: Headbands!!

So in recent months, I have developed a small affinity for headbands.  They are so cute, and can be a playful addition to any outfit.  I prefer headbands with some kind of attachment; plain ones don't quite work for me.  I love the big pieces on the ones I am going to share, because they make a statement in themselves. What do you think?

I love the hunter green color of the feathers;  this headband will go great with jeans, a cute tee, and some lace up oxford peep toe stilettos or with a flowing maxi dress and metallic sandals.

I am such a girly girl at heart, I love stuff with bows.  They allow me to be a bit young, yet still elegant.  I try to stick to age appropriate bows, like this cream headband.  The color is great for summer.
This flora headband is divine!!!  It will look great, with a cute pencil skirt and top or cardigan for the office.  This headband would look great with hair pulled back.  Loves it!!!

Just Being Real- Balance

Happy Thursday Ladies!!!

I pray  that you will bear with me in developing a consistent routine for posting.

Everyday that I wake up, the first person or thing to come to my mind is Jesus, because I know it is only the Lord who wakes me up daily and protects me as I sleep.  However, I have to be real, I am struggling with finding a balance in life.  Though Jesus is the first person I think of and I think of God's awesomeness throughout my day, I realize that I lack in other areas of my relationship with God.  I talk to him throughout my day, not always in an on my knees manner, but I sometimes find it hard to balance my time to make sure that I read His word the way I should and would like to.  Sometimes, I (and you too) get so caught up in living, of which I am really trying to do for my heavenly father, that by the time, i realize I have not taken a period of time to study and meditate on His word, it is late, I am sleepy, and feel like the word won't sink in in my sleepy state.  In my growth I realize that God appreciates realness, because He can not work with us if we are not 'keeping it real.'  Lately, I have been saying to God, Lord I don't know why or how I slack on reading your word, but please enter my heart so that I may desire you and your word more.  I know this is not my only flaw in my relationship with God, but this has been heavy on my heart.  Though it plagues me and makes me feel like I am failing God at times, He is so wonderful, because he gently gives me peace and lets me know that He is still here and that he sees and knows my heart and He is and will continue working on me.  God is so forgiving and understanding!!!  It is insane! ( Sidenote: How wonderful would the world be if we were more forgiving?)  I know I am not the only one who needs to get real with herself and God or ho has flaws in their relationship with God, but pray that you not give up on your relationship with God just because you maybe slacking in some area.  God's love never waivers, and He is just waiting on us to call out to him for help!!!

What I Want Now: Straight/Slouchy Trousers


So I really want some straight/slouchy trousers, preferably in a cotton fabric.  I think they will be very flatterring, but not too tight like skinny trousers.  These pants would be cute with super cute high heels or to work, as a teacher, rolled with cute flats.  Unfortunately most of the straight/slouchy leg trousers I like are way out of my budget; I found a fabulous pair at H&M, but there si no H&M in Houston or Texas for that matter (the travesty!!!!).  I found a really lovely pair on 
net-a-porter.com by Alberta Feretti (way out of my budget right now), but here is how I would wear them to lunch or dinner with those of whom I love.

This gray color is perfect!!  Not too light or too dark.  Gray is an underrated neutral that we should wear more of.  The light high waist of these will hide my slowly growing pudge (an ab workout regimen is on its way, LOL)

This tank is simple, which is necessarly when wearing a trouser with some pleating (sidenote:  ladies who have some issues in the tummy area, avoid pants and shorts with pleating.  It can possibly make you look heavier; if that is your issue).  Plus a simple tank or top, leaves a clean palette for a statement necklace.
Those of you who know me, know I love pearls; they are so classic!  I really love the edginess of this necklace.  It still has the classic pearls but the looping and rhinestone pendant make it divine!!!  And it is only like 13 bucks at forever21!
I love a colored shoe; it adds interest an otherwise bland outfit, especially when there is no print in the pieces.  I like the platform, because they are more comfortable.  The combo of black, gray, and cobalt blue, is super chic and fab!!!

This is one of many outfits I would wear (minus a few accessories, that I probably already have) if I had those Alberta Ferretti slouchy/straight trousers in my wardrobe.  How would you wear these trousers or something similar?

Dream Big!

Lately I have really been feeling inspired to pursue my dreams (I have so many!! lol). But I must be real, it is easy to let fear get in the way. I know God lays things on my heart and has given me many gifts; its just that at times it is difficult to start acting on them. God let's us know that he has great things in store for us, but we seem to be afraid to not act on them. God has given me gifts, and I am convinced that it is now my time to act on them. Often, when we think of dreams, we think of these major events and occurrences, but we really just have to start small. God wants us to do great things here on Earth, as long as He receives the glory he is due, we just have to bring the desires of our heart to him! One of the first things I want to do is start doing some wardrobe consulting (prayerfully I can turn it in to a career), so you know what I did a few days ago to act on the gift God has given me? Ordered some business cards (Vistaprints has some extremely affordable ones)! I don't know what your aspirations and dreams may be (maybe go back to school, get married have children, start a new career, become an actress, etc), but I do not that by listening to God speak and acting on what he gives, you can achieve them!

So lovelies, time to get to work!!

Happy Hump Day Lovelies!

Ok, so first apologies are due, because I have neglected writing for over a week. I have been kinda busy trying to maintain and venture into new things. By the way, I passed my TExES content exam; Praise God!!! When I got the news I was hall monitoring during the TAKS test, so I had to quietly praise God for seeing me through that test with a passing grade, instead running and shouting and screaming down the hallway like I really wanted to.

I knew I was in a school, and there is supposed to be a separation of church and state, but ladies, I really could not hold my peace. So you know what I did, I went to the restroom and had a small and brief praise party, lol. God is too awesome, not to give him the praise that he is due. The Bible says that God works the extraordinary not the ordinary, and if I can be real about my testing ability on April 4, 2009, God was being extraordinary when I got that passing score! I was so nervous, even seconds before I opened the score on my iPhone, which has gotten me to thinking lately. Why was I doubting God? True enough, I know I was falling asleep (not literally but very close LOL) during the test, had no idea about one of the works I was supposed to write about in my comparative essay, and felt like the stuff I studied in my test prep materials was not on the test. But, I had prayed to God about that thing on many occasions, including right before I started testing, yet I did not have faith that I would do good enough.

And you know what, God showed me baby! When I saw that score, I felt God say "I got you baby girl." It was such an awesome feeling, knowing that though I was doubtful, He had already taken care of me and reminded me that I had no reason to doubt! All it takes is faith in God and his wonderful abilities, for extraordinary things to happen. All he is doing, is waiting is for us to ask Him and believe in him. Sometimes, our prayers don't get answered, because we ask without believing. God wants to do great works in our lives, but we fail to ask. (I'm talking to myself too lovelies) So, from this day forward, lets talk to God, tell him the desires of our heart (according to his will and word of course), and believe in Him to do great things (in His time, not ours)!

In The Morning

Sometimes, it is so easy to get down, sad, or disappointed about the things happening or not happening in my life, but it always seems that after a bit of time feeling this way, I remember that light must come after darkness!  With the economy in the dumps, job losses everywhere, relationship issues, and so on, I know some of you may feel this way too at times.  I have to remind myself that God won't forsake me, and you know what?  He doesn't allow me to stay down for long!  When I feel down I do a few things that always make me feel better (aside from praying and going to church):

1) Do my nails (I love nail polish and all of its colors, and when I am down I usually go for more vibrant colors)
2) Listen to music and shake what my momma gave me in my long mirror, LOL
3) Dress up!  (my favorite one!)

For me personally, on days when subbing isn't consistent, things simply aren't right, or I'm feeling down, I put on a cute dress or some jeans and cute tee or shirt, and a pair of 4-5" stilettos, even if all I am doing is running an errand or visiting my mom and her co-workers at work!  I simply feel fabulous and much better after doing so.  These things do not substitute the amazing feeling and empowerment God gives, but I find them to be a tool God allows as a little pick me up.  I've come to realize that though I may feel down or my circumstances are bad, doesn't mean I have to stay in that frame of mind.  But to be honest, it wasn't until I started really trying to build my relationship with God (a daily journey), that I have been able to see the sun shining on the other side of my darkness, long before it even begins to rise!  So today lovelies, I just want to remind you that the sun is beaming, even if you can't see it right now or at difficult times.  All we have to do is look up to see the sunshine!

What I Want Now: Shoes!!

So I was doing some web searching, looking at shoes, and I came across these!!!  
I am very picky about the kind of sandals I wear, because I have some feet insecurities (Lord help me, lol), but these sandals are perfect!  I always prefer a thong settle sandal, as opposed to strappy ones, because I like how they look on my feet.  The gladiator shoe is totally in this season, but most importantly: this turquoise color is DIVINE!!  I love the studded details too.  I can see myself wearing these with jeans and a tee or a cute blouse, or a cute dress (short or maxi) throughout the summer.  I must have them soon (can we say b-day present?)  LOL!
OMG, I love me a funky(in a good way) shoe, and this shoe is Funk-ay LOL!!!  I love the pointed toe, that is not too pointy.  The hidden platform is so in, and add comfort.  I absolutely adore the color blocking.  I am a pink/purple kind of girl, so this magenta is so right for me!!  The architectural detail on the back of this shoe (the raised back) is so on point!  Add a 4.25" heel and these shoes are just right for me; I totally see them in my closet (visualization is key, lol).

When I get these shoes (it is important to speak things into existence lovelies!), you all will definitely know!

Sisterfriends!!

Bonjour Lovelies!

I just want to say that I love my sisterfriends!!  They come in different shapes, personalities, and sizes, but I love them all!!  I thank God for the ladies He has placed in my life, and I firmly believe God does not create us lovely chicas to be or feel alone.  True enough I have had to lose some friends along my journey, especially in the last year or so, but the lovelies, who I communicate with on a regular basis, who I know will be there for me when I need them, and know that the advice they give will have positivity and God behind it.  I think it is important to celebrate our sisterfriends; call them and see how they are doing, get together for dinner and fun, sometimes, just let them know you are there.  So many times, we feel like friends have changed or feel lonely because we don't have friends (or the kind we desire), but God tells us (in my words)  to have friends you have to be a friend.  Often we get so caught up within ourselves, that we forget to be friends (yet we have all kinds of attitude when our "friend" is being a friend like we think).  Life is not meant to be lonely, and I thank God for surrounding me with ladies who make sure that I never feel that I am.  So today, I just want to let my sisterfriends know they are appreciated and thank you for going on this journey of life with me!!!  Tons of smooches to you lovelies!!!

All You Gotta Do Is Say Yes (Where is Floetry by the way?)

I was leaving an event at church one night last week, a book club, meet the author style thing (check out Living With No Regrets by Anetra Wagner Piper; I just finished reading it...super good!), and the Coco Brother show was on Praise 92.1. He played the song "Yes" of whom I need to know who it, so I can buy it on iTunes. As the song was playing Coco Brother talked about what aren't we saying yes to (God, careers, relationships, kindness, love, etc.), and that all we really have to do is say yes God. I was so moved by the song and his words' it filled my heart so! It got me to thinking, since I've really opened my heart to God and committed myself to saying yes to whatever He has in His will for me, my life has improved immensely! True enough, things are far from perfect, but the joy in my heart and the peace of mind I have in spite of my circumstances is amazing!!

My experiences since consciously striving to walk in God's will, leaves me wondering why so many young people are hesitant to wholeheartedly say yes to God? I have friends (even ones I grew up with in church) who are resistant to trying things more God-centered (i.e. being open to forgiveness, coming to Sista2Sista, a church group for women 18-35, doing things besides hitting the club and getting drunk, and just finding a more positive outlook on everything in life); these same friends don't even call me much, unless they want something, of course. I just want them to see how much more fulfilled life can be, when they say yes! Don't get me wrong Lovelies, I still struggle with God on things (I totally need to study The Word more, to name one of the many things i need to work on, but I'm progressing). So, just know I am never coming from a judgemental stance. I just want everyone to experience the beauty of a daily relationship with God! And it is so simple; All we have to do is say yes! Yes, Lord I will follow You, strive to do Your will, sacrifice myself so that You may be glorified, and live in the joy, peace, and love that You bring! Easter passed a few weeks ago, and the meaning of the holiday never resonated so strongly with me than it did this year; God gave His son! Jesus sacrificed his life, for little me. Of course, I can say yes, and watch the beauty of God work in my life!!!!

What To Wear- Date Night/Dinner Night Out

Happy Mid Week Lovelies!!

I know the weekend is near, and some of you fabulous ladies may have dates or plans dinner with the girls.  So hear is one of many options for this weekend's festivities!

OMG!  I love this top!  Purple is one of my favorite colors; it seems to make any person look and seem a bit more regal! The asymmetrical shape of this top is so in right now.  It allows your collarbone to show, which is one of the sexiest parts of the female body.  It is sexy without revealing too much, and the ruffle is just beautiful and feminine!

This top would look good with, skinny, straight, or wide leg jeans, but I prefer skinny or straight, because of the voluminous ruffle of the top.  Go for dark jeans, because they are much dressier than a lighter wash jean.
These snakeskin booties are fierce and have been added to my wish list!  Booties look great with skinny or straight leg jeans.  Plus, they can be easily transitioned to fall with some opaque tights.  The grey colors of make these shoes a wonderful neutral! 
I love a peep-toe pump, and this one is divine!  The color-blocking details on the back of the shoe is so original, especially the pop of blue!  With these shoes I would do a simple earring, maybe a pearl or stud.

I really like these earrings because they can jazz up any outfit.  The turquoise color looks wonderful against glowing skin and adds a pop of color to the outfit.  

To finish off this date/dinner out look, I would add an oversized clutch in black or some other neutral.  The most important part of this outfit is the top, so you don't want to accessorize too much to draw away from it. Have fun oh FAB ones!

Change Gon' Come ( I love that song!)

As I was ride around town, going to my various destinations (work, store, etc.), I see places , particularly clubs and bars, that I used to go to.  Seeing those places, I often smile thinking, "I haven't been there in ages or I remember when that used to be So and So, ( i.e. T-town, an old Houston club); good times!!"  LOL.  I gotta admit, hitting the club with friends used to be one of my favorite things to do (though even then, I didn't go out every weekend) because I love to dance!  I used to enjoy getting attention from guys (mostly when I was having insecurities ore self-esteem issues) but most of all I loved being on the dance floor shaking what my momma gave me LOL.  Truth be told, though I enjoyed those times, they are no longer of interest to me.  Since getting real about my relationship with God, I really don't do or want to do the things I used to.  If I were to remain the same, doing the same things, there would be no evidence of God working in me!  Don't get me wrong lovelies, I am far from perfect and make mistakes all of the times.  For example, I really try not to curse (I used to curse like a sailor and loved it), but sometimes I slip up, especially when I'm very angry.  But God is so amazing because I bring my slip-ups and mistakes to him, and He forgives me!  Even better, He helps me to work on those things!!  When you're walking with God, change has to come, but don't be afraid of it.  Embrace the change He is bringing out in you, because it is only for your good.  And honeys, don't worry about who leaves you as your changes occur, because that's God's way of weeding people out of your life anyway!!

A Few Books

I recently discovered this author (apparently I'm a little late) while reading the Essence book list for the March issue, and I just love her books!  I don't want to give you any details, but lets just say this book explores how those in the church aren't always the most Godly!  It has a juicy plot that keeps you reading, but has strong spiritual and scriptural grounds.

Do You and Fabulosity by Russell and Kimora Simmons 
 
Though I could do without the cussing, these are very good books about being the only thing you can be, yourself!  Do you, give steps that can help you become a success in any business, but more importantly succeed in life.  I really like how Russell Simmonsencompasses yoga and meditation as means of finding inner peace which aids in succeeding through life (I think yoga is wonderful way and time to talk to God).  Fabulosity, is similar to Do You, just with lots more glam!  Kimora gives great ideas on how to brand yourself, give yourself a makeover, and love your inner goddess.  These are two great reads that can help get you going in the path you desire to follow (as long as its in God's will of course)  :-)

Keep It Positive!!!

Hello lovelies!!  Sorry for the small hiatus (I have to figure out a consistent pattern for these postings).  I hope all is well with you, and if it's not, know that is going to get better!  Sunday my pastor preached on positive thinking, which is something I have been trying to practice everyday for the last couple of months!  I really believe that when you think positively or negatively on things, it comes into fruition based on how you think.  There are so many things God has laid on my heart, this blog being one, that I just know are a part of His purpose for me, but I have to remember to think positively on those things and not let the devil seep into my thoughts.  It took me a while to start this blog, after God laid it on my heart to do so, because I was always thinking "I can write literary papers, but I don't know how to write blog post."  It wasn't until I constantly thought "I have stories to share, believe women can be Christian and fabulous consecutively, and may be able to help someone with the things I have to say!" that this blog became a reality.  

Thinking positively not only affects the things you want to do, but the way you act everyday.  When you think positively your attitude and vibe is positive, which is a beautiful reflection of God in you!  Don't get me wrong, as humans we still have bad attitudes at times, but that's something we have to pray t God about and try to do better next time.  It is so easy to let Satan and negative thoughts seep into our mind, but truth is, positive thinking has  a lot to do faith too.  When you have faith in God and what He has planned for your life, it should be (and has been for me)  easier to think positively.  I want to star my own fashion related business, but I have yet to figure out the complete ways to make it happen (but it is not for me to figure out, since I've given it over to God).  I think positive on my future endeavors everyday and visualize myself running things as an entrepreneur, knowing that God will give me anything I ask if it is according to His will!

Maybe you're looking for a job, trying to finish or start school, looking for a Godly romantic relationship, and the list can go on and on.  I encourage you to THINK and SPEAK positively on whatever it may be, give it over to God, and watch HIM  work!!!

So one of my favorite girlies got engaged over the weekend, and I am so elated for her and hubby-to-be! This got me to thinking...I must admit, a few years ago (even last year) I might not have been as enthused as I am today about the love others had. I hadn't yet embraced the beauty of the love God places in the lives of many! I know alot of ladies in our 20's are obsessed with the ideas of love (which is not the fairytale we dream about). On Facebok, I'm always reading the statuses of friends and associates talking about, hey can't find a man or their need for a boyfriend or date (not passing judgement chicas). :-) Truth is, though romantic love is beautiful and God given, your life should not be centered around whether or not you have a an. Jesus is the best boyfriend/husband we could ever have!! Plus, I find that when we get real love in our lives, we sometimes run from it, look for character flaws, or come p with materialistic excuses on why "He ain't the ONE!" LOL. (I too have been guilty of this lovelies).

Love is hard work; it is patient, kind, forgiving, and so on ( y'all know the Bible verse). Sometimes, God doesn't bring us the man He desires for our life, because we don't have the ability to be all of those things just yet. Take your time of singledom to grow in God, enjoy life, and work on YOU! When you are least expecting it and aren't walking around looking for a man, God will plop him right in your face! Furthermore, when you focus on God and strive to live in His will everyday,He will hear your prayers for a man and send you the ma He knows will compliment you and meets all of your standards, which I think we need to set higher (but that's another post, LOL); or He will mold that man in your life, who might not be acting right,into the man He would have to be for you! God is that freakin' awesome!

I know its Spring and summer is coming, which often means alot of weddings are coming up, and I don't want you ladies getting down in the romance dumps just because your turn hasn't come. Instead get yourself a fab dress (maybe a printed maxi or a little black dress (LBD), a fierce pair of shoes (some peep-toe booties or gladiator style 4 or 5-inch heels), and celebrate the beautiful love God has placed in the lives of others!

What To Wear

Happy Friday Lovelies!!! Today is the first day of Spring, and I am so excited. Spring is my favorite season! It starts to warm up outside, but it doesn't get too hot like the Summers down South. Plus its the perfect time for dress shopping. Here are a suggestions for Spring!


Floral is so in for Spring (aren't they always lol), and the colors of this dress are lovely and feminine for any skin tone. If the v is too low, a black cami (I would personally do a blue or pink one) can be added to conceal the boobies. :-) The beautiful chiffon fabric makes this great for a wedding or even Easter. You know how we tend to get all dolled up for Easter!

I really appreciate the silhouette of this dress. The cap sleeve is great for any shoulder type; it is especially flattering for those of you with broad shoulders who avoid wearing sleeveless things for that reason. This deep coral color is beautiful and very popular right now, and the full skirt is so flattering. This dress style gives anyone an hourglass silhouette (of which I am always aiming for with my clothes)!

I love this dress for three reasons: The black on top and white on bottom is a play on the usual black on bottom white on top look usually done on color blocked or two piece inspired dresses; I love tailored clothes because they hold me in well and aid in the hourglass silhouette I love; finally this a perfect dress to wear to the work as it begins too warm up. You can add a blazer, scarf (preferably floral or maybe animal print), to make the dress more professional, yet you won't burn up from the heat.


The maxi dress is so hot for Spring! This jade green is so beautiful, and the woven details are just fabulous! I love maxi dresses because I can just throw them on easily for a variety of events (depending on the pattern and fabric). Plus, with the maxi dress you never have to worry about your dress being to short (an issue I have sometime being kinda tall). Gold gladiator sandals would look great with this dress!



I love the eclectic feel of this chiffon maxi dress! It is a floral print, but not a straightforward maxi with he exact same consistent print. The darkness of this dress (navy) makes it something that can be worn once Fall comes back around with maybe some booties and a sweater. This would be great for a wedding and reception that may last a bit later than day time; it can be worn with cute flat sandals or a really cute sandal with hints of metallic (like maybe gold or silver studs).
Ok, I simply LOVE this dress!! It is speaking to me in so many ways; I am trying to figure out how to get it in my budget! lol Though it is spring, a black dress is still a necessary part of the wardrobe. It is so structured yet feminine, perfect for my hips! lol it has a subtle v-neck, which I love, and I appreciate the short sleeve as opposed to it being sleeveless (the way black dresses are usually made in spring). This dress would be great for the office, dinner with friends, church, or anything you want to go to and look and feel fierce!

Passing My Test

So, I just registered for a teacher certification test (English Language Arts & Reading 8-12), and it is like 2.5 weeks!!! That is totally not enough time to prepare for a major standardized exam, especially being that I graduated form college 2 years ago and most of my work since then has been fashion/retail related. So y'all pray for me (cause I am freaking out a bit, lol). I know my stuff when it comes to literature; I already know what books I want to have students read and the ways I want to engage them in reading and literature. However, some of the questions on the practice exam I downloaded, left me a bit puzzled or wondering if I am really able to pass my test. So, I go to the library and check out all of the TExES study books I can find trying to study for this test, and God says to me, "Are you studying for my test?" Truth be told, God is testing us all the time; the trials and tribulations we face are not just for fun or the devil trying to hurt us. Sometimes God allows things to happen to us to see how we respond. I have to be real honest, I am not as well prepared for God's test as I should be. To prepare for the test of God, we need to read the word, pray, and attend church services and groups that will implant the word of God so that we can use it in daily life. I have to be real; I am not where I should be in preparing for my test (which is probably why I fail sometimes). But God is so wonderful; He gives me a chance to redeem myself with another test. Plus those test often force me to study His word and talk to Him, which is all that He really wants anyway! Preparing for God's test doesn't necessarily mean spending an hour reading God's word everyday (though that is an eventual goal of mine), but I am finding that making a bit more time than I used to is a great help. God appreciates the time we spend with Him, and through this time He blesses us with the tools to face life on Earth head on, and past the test of life with flying colors! In studying for spiritual test, I have found that I am better prepared for Earthly test too. I know that God has given me knowledge to pass my test in a few weeks, and I have faith in his ability to help me pass this test (through calming my anxiety or helping me recall things from my education to answer the test questions correctly). Test come to try our faith, and just like we study for test for school or work, we (myself included) need to study for God's test as well. He gives us all of the tools to succeed in life (on ever level), we just have to take the initiative to use the tools (His word, church, conversation with Him) and apply them!

What I Want Now!!!

Ok, so I admit it, I am a fashion addict (though I am learning how to resist my addiction)! Clothes, shoes, handbags, accessories, they tend to just speak to me, lol. But, shoes they seem to sneak up on me and whisper in my ear, like that dude who is trying to get your number when you are in (or in my case used to be in) the club, lol...or even better when your boyfriend whispers how beautiful you are or how much he loves you. I sometimes tend to lust for shoes (lusting is just not a sexual thing), which I am too working on. Nonetheless, these are some shoes on my must-have soon (when they fit in my budget) list!

These shoes from the Kors for Michael Kors line are so adorable. I love this neutral tan color! The bow is so cute, but the studs on the bow give it something extra. I Can imagine them, with a cute summer dress at a wedding, maybe dinner with my sweetie, or of course jeans and a cute tee (one of my favorite go to outfits)!



I love short boots. They are great in the winter with jeans or leggings and a tunic. I really want these to wear for spring/summer with a cute (not too short) summer dress. I love the studs...it makes me feel a bit rockstar like! Plus, I will be able to wear them once winter comes back around.

What About Your Friends?

OMG, I used to love that TLC song back in the day, LOL!!! "What about your friends, will they stand their ground? Will they let you down? Eh,eh." I was in elementary school, so I didn't understand the full meaning of it, but I used to sing it and dance to it, nonetheless :-). As I get older, the definitions of friendship and who I consider to be my real friends, has become something I've had to deal with spiritually and emotionally. In high school and most of college, I had a full social calendar, my daytime minutes, were always being used up in girl talk, and I was always in "need" of anew outfit (I needed something new to wear when going out with "the girl"). For a while, I'd gotten really down on myself, because It felt like at times, I was friendless. Even my nearest and dearest "best friends were no where to be found when I needed them or wanted to do something. But that lack of friendship, especially in what I considered to be my times of need, helped me to realize Jesus is my true friend. He is always available to talk (and listen), hangs out with me all the time, and even tells me when those shorts or too short, pants are too tight, or that dress is just too cute, when WE go shopping, lol. He simply keeps it REAL!

As I get closer to God, it seems that "the girls" don't call me to go out much, or my "friends" call only when they need something, but it surely doesn't hurt me like it used to. I realize that our interest are no longer the same, and everybody is not meant to be in my life forever. T.D. Jakes writes in his book, Before You Do: Making Great Decisions That You Won't Regret, "Some people are seasonal blessings loaned to you to perform a purpose and when the season is up and the purpose is completed they will leave. This is okay." Truth be told, sometimes God has to take people out of your life (or decrease their presence in it) so that He can bring forth new people. I've made some new friends who (though we may not talk everyday), I love dearly, are making a conscious effort to live for God, enjoy doing fun things besides going to the club, of whom have common interest, and are just as fabulous as God considers me to be! :-)

Sometimes, we as women, take our friendships very deeply, and when they come to an end or things change, it has a great impact on us. Nonetheless, God is our greatest friend, and he will never leave us lonely, spiritually or here on Earth. So the next time, sister girl stops answering your calls or acting funny, don't get upset or give her attitude, just take it in stride, knowing that God has a purpose for it all!

Don't Play With My Money!!!

So today, I am going about my workday, and I decided to check my bank account online. Low and behold, there were three charges on there that I had not made a store! I was furious!!! Not only were those charges there, but they left me broke until the next payday!!! I know in my Sista2Sista class (a class at my church for young women ages 18-35) we are talking about being slow to wrath and knowing the power of the tongue, but let me say I was MAD!!! So I am sitting in the class, fuming, waiting for the bell to ring, so that I can go on a conference period and call the bank. The messages from class were the furthest thing from my mind, but this was my first test for the week. I was so ready to go off on the customer service lady for the bank and the retailer (they were messing with my money! lol)! But, you know what, when you are trying to walk in God's will, He has a way of changing you even when you don't want to change in that moment. Do you know I called the bank and by the time the lady came to the phone, I was calm as can be, and politely said, "yes, I see somethings on my account that I do not remember purchasing recently." I totally wanted to yell and fuss and make a big deal of these issues, but is amazing how God knows my heart is for Him now, and knew just how to calm me and give me the words to say! Though I am disappointed by the situation and a bit upset with the retailer for their lack of professionalism and timeliness, I have the peace of God. I am no longer fuming, know God will take care of me, and can't help but smile at how God has changed me in a beautiful way. Let me just say, a year or so ago, I would have yelled at that lady, maybe called her a name or two, made sure I spoke with her manager, and wouldn't have hung up until they refunded me that money (even if it wasn't the bank's fault) lol!!!!

I know sometimes, we have tempers, sharp tongues, and stubborn attitudes, but God can really remove these negative attributes. Even when you don't want to hold your tongue or be slow to wrath, God has a way of making this very thing possible! When God sees that we have a heart for him and are thirsting for Him, He is pleased and works things out (even our tongues and tempers) even when we may not ask him to. God totally loves His stubborn children (like me)! :-)

What To Wear

Just because you are going to church (for a conference, worship service, or any other service or event), doesn't mean you can't look young and fierce!



Every woman needs a full skirt or dress (but if you have bigger hips, don't go too full). For those of you worried about your center area, the fullness of the skirt balances out your tummy issues, and purple is a wonderful color for all skin tones and symbolizes royalty (we are all Queens!).
I love me a basic tee. They can be worn with jeans or the fabulous pencil skirt shown above!



Anyone who knows me, knows I love a fab scarf, because they can add some fun to any outfit. This leopard scarf is composed of neutrals (brown, camel, black) which go with anything. Plus the scarf is just fun. It can be tied in a bow (of which I would do for this outfit) or just drape around the neck.
Every woman needs at least one blazer, and right now oversized blazers are so in right now! You can cinch the blazer with a brown or tan belt or just wear it open.



The bootie is in for spring and fall, so it makes a great transitioning shoe. I love the cutouts on the side, and a peep toe shoe, flatters almost any foot. (P.S. sorry for the poor shoe pic, I am new to this blogger thing, but this was the ideal shoe for this outfit).


I know some of you are stuck in that world where your shoes must match your handbag, but please step out of that world, lol. This bag is perfect for church, work, or hanging out. You can put as much or as little into this bag, and the color is luscious and a neutral which means it can go with so many outfits!!!



This outfit is great for church, but it can be worn to work, lunch with friends, or a little date with your honey:-).
