Keep It Positive!!!

Hello lovelies!!  Sorry for the small hiatus (I have to figure out a consistent pattern for these postings).  I hope all is well with you, and if it's not, know that is going to get better!  Sunday my pastor preached on positive thinking, which is something I have been trying to practice everyday for the last couple of months!  I really believe that when you think positively or negatively on things, it comes into fruition based on how you think.  There are so many things God has laid on my heart, this blog being one, that I just know are a part of His purpose for me, but I have to remember to think positively on those things and not let the devil seep into my thoughts.  It took me a while to start this blog, after God laid it on my heart to do so, because I was always thinking "I can write literary papers, but I don't know how to write blog post."  It wasn't until I constantly thought "I have stories to share, believe women can be Christian and fabulous consecutively, and may be able to help someone with the things I have to say!" that this blog became a reality.  

Thinking positively not only affects the things you want to do, but the way you act everyday.  When you think positively your attitude and vibe is positive, which is a beautiful reflection of God in you!  Don't get me wrong, as humans we still have bad attitudes at times, but that's something we have to pray t God about and try to do better next time.  It is so easy to let Satan and negative thoughts seep into our mind, but truth is, positive thinking has  a lot to do faith too.  When you have faith in God and what He has planned for your life, it should be (and has been for me)  easier to think positively.  I want to star my own fashion related business, but I have yet to figure out the complete ways to make it happen (but it is not for me to figure out, since I've given it over to God).  I think positive on my future endeavors everyday and visualize myself running things as an entrepreneur, knowing that God will give me anything I ask if it is according to His will!

Maybe you're looking for a job, trying to finish or start school, looking for a Godly romantic relationship, and the list can go on and on.  I encourage you to THINK and SPEAK positively on whatever it may be, give it over to God, and watch HIM  work!!!

Love Is In The Air!

So one of my favorite girlies got engaged over the weekend, and I am so elated for her and hubby-to-be! This got me to thinking...I must admit, a few years ago (even last year) I might not have been as enthused as I am today about the love others had. I hadn't yet embraced the beauty of the love God places in the lives of many! I know alot of ladies in our 20's are obsessed with the ideas of love (which is not the fairytale we dream about). On Facebok, I'm always reading the statuses of friends and associates talking about, hey can't find a man or their need for a boyfriend or date (not passing judgement chicas). :-) Truth is, though romantic love is beautiful and God given, your life should not be centered around whether or not you have a an. Jesus is the best boyfriend/husband we could ever have!! Plus, I find that when we get real love in our lives, we sometimes run from it, look for character flaws, or come p with materialistic excuses on why "He ain't the ONE!" LOL. (I too have been guilty of this lovelies).

Love is hard work; it is patient, kind, forgiving, and so on ( y'all know the Bible verse). Sometimes, God doesn't bring us the man He desires for our life, because we don't have the ability to be all of those things just yet. Take your time of singledom to grow in God, enjoy life, and work on YOU! When you are least expecting it and aren't walking around looking for a man, God will plop him right in your face! Furthermore, when you focus on God and strive to live in His will everyday,He will hear your prayers for a man and send you the ma He knows will compliment you and meets all of your standards, which I think we need to set higher (but that's another post, LOL); or He will mold that man in your life, who might not be acting right,into the man He would have to be for you! God is that freakin' awesome!

I know its Spring and summer is coming, which often means alot of weddings are coming up, and I don't want you ladies getting down in the romance dumps just because your turn hasn't come. Instead get yourself a fab dress (maybe a printed maxi or a little black dress (LBD), a fierce pair of shoes (some peep-toe booties or gladiator style 4 or 5-inch heels), and celebrate the beautiful love God has placed in the lives of others!

What To Wear

Happy Friday Lovelies!!! Today is the first day of Spring, and I am so excited. Spring is my favorite season! It starts to warm up outside, but it doesn't get too hot like the Summers down South. Plus its the perfect time for dress shopping. Here are a suggestions for Spring!


Floral is so in for Spring (aren't they always lol), and the colors of this dress are lovely and feminine for any skin tone. If the v is too low, a black cami (I would personally do a blue or pink one) can be added to conceal the boobies. :-) The beautiful chiffon fabric makes this great for a wedding or even Easter. You know how we tend to get all dolled up for Easter!

I really appreciate the silhouette of this dress. The cap sleeve is great for any shoulder type; it is especially flattering for those of you with broad shoulders who avoid wearing sleeveless things for that reason. This deep coral color is beautiful and very popular right now, and the full skirt is so flattering. This dress style gives anyone an hourglass silhouette (of which I am always aiming for with my clothes)!

I love this dress for three reasons: The black on top and white on bottom is a play on the usual black on bottom white on top look usually done on color blocked or two piece inspired dresses; I love tailored clothes because they hold me in well and aid in the hourglass silhouette I love; finally this a perfect dress to wear to the work as it begins too warm up. You can add a blazer, scarf (preferably floral or maybe animal print), to make the dress more professional, yet you won't burn up from the heat.


The maxi dress is so hot for Spring! This jade green is so beautiful, and the woven details are just fabulous! I love maxi dresses because I can just throw them on easily for a variety of events (depending on the pattern and fabric). Plus, with the maxi dress you never have to worry about your dress being to short (an issue I have sometime being kinda tall). Gold gladiator sandals would look great with this dress!



I love the eclectic feel of this chiffon maxi dress! It is a floral print, but not a straightforward maxi with he exact same consistent print. The darkness of this dress (navy) makes it something that can be worn once Fall comes back around with maybe some booties and a sweater. This would be great for a wedding and reception that may last a bit later than day time; it can be worn with cute flat sandals or a really cute sandal with hints of metallic (like maybe gold or silver studs).
Ok, I simply LOVE this dress!! It is speaking to me in so many ways; I am trying to figure out how to get it in my budget! lol Though it is spring, a black dress is still a necessary part of the wardrobe. It is so structured yet feminine, perfect for my hips! lol it has a subtle v-neck, which I love, and I appreciate the short sleeve as opposed to it being sleeveless (the way black dresses are usually made in spring). This dress would be great for the office, dinner with friends, church, or anything you want to go to and look and feel fierce!

Passing My Test

So, I just registered for a teacher certification test (English Language Arts & Reading 8-12), and it is like 2.5 weeks!!! That is totally not enough time to prepare for a major standardized exam, especially being that I graduated form college 2 years ago and most of my work since then has been fashion/retail related. So y'all pray for me (cause I am freaking out a bit, lol). I know my stuff when it comes to literature; I already know what books I want to have students read and the ways I want to engage them in reading and literature. However, some of the questions on the practice exam I downloaded, left me a bit puzzled or wondering if I am really able to pass my test. So, I go to the library and check out all of the TExES study books I can find trying to study for this test, and God says to me, "Are you studying for my test?" Truth be told, God is testing us all the time; the trials and tribulations we face are not just for fun or the devil trying to hurt us. Sometimes God allows things to happen to us to see how we respond. I have to be real honest, I am not as well prepared for God's test as I should be. To prepare for the test of God, we need to read the word, pray, and attend church services and groups that will implant the word of God so that we can use it in daily life. I have to be real; I am not where I should be in preparing for my test (which is probably why I fail sometimes). But God is so wonderful; He gives me a chance to redeem myself with another test. Plus those test often force me to study His word and talk to Him, which is all that He really wants anyway! Preparing for God's test doesn't necessarily mean spending an hour reading God's word everyday (though that is an eventual goal of mine), but I am finding that making a bit more time than I used to is a great help. God appreciates the time we spend with Him, and through this time He blesses us with the tools to face life on Earth head on, and past the test of life with flying colors! In studying for spiritual test, I have found that I am better prepared for Earthly test too. I know that God has given me knowledge to pass my test in a few weeks, and I have faith in his ability to help me pass this test (through calming my anxiety or helping me recall things from my education to answer the test questions correctly). Test come to try our faith, and just like we study for test for school or work, we (myself included) need to study for God's test as well. He gives us all of the tools to succeed in life (on ever level), we just have to take the initiative to use the tools (His word, church, conversation with Him) and apply them!

What I Want Now!!!

Ok, so I admit it, I am a fashion addict (though I am learning how to resist my addiction)! Clothes, shoes, handbags, accessories, they tend to just speak to me, lol. But, shoes they seem to sneak up on me and whisper in my ear, like that dude who is trying to get your number when you are in (or in my case used to be in) the club, lol...or even better when your boyfriend whispers how beautiful you are or how much he loves you. I sometimes tend to lust for shoes (lusting is just not a sexual thing), which I am too working on. Nonetheless, these are some shoes on my must-have soon (when they fit in my budget) list!

These shoes from the Kors for Michael Kors line are so adorable. I love this neutral tan color! The bow is so cute, but the studs on the bow give it something extra. I Can imagine them, with a cute summer dress at a wedding, maybe dinner with my sweetie, or of course jeans and a cute tee (one of my favorite go to outfits)!



I love short boots. They are great in the winter with jeans or leggings and a tunic. I really want these to wear for spring/summer with a cute (not too short) summer dress. I love the studs...it makes me feel a bit rockstar like! Plus, I will be able to wear them once winter comes back around.

What About Your Friends?

OMG, I used to love that TLC song back in the day, LOL!!! "What about your friends, will they stand their ground? Will they let you down? Eh,eh." I was in elementary school, so I didn't understand the full meaning of it, but I used to sing it and dance to it, nonetheless :-). As I get older, the definitions of friendship and who I consider to be my real friends, has become something I've had to deal with spiritually and emotionally. In high school and most of college, I had a full social calendar, my daytime minutes, were always being used up in girl talk, and I was always in "need" of anew outfit (I needed something new to wear when going out with "the girl"). For a while, I'd gotten really down on myself, because It felt like at times, I was friendless. Even my nearest and dearest "best friends were no where to be found when I needed them or wanted to do something. But that lack of friendship, especially in what I considered to be my times of need, helped me to realize Jesus is my true friend. He is always available to talk (and listen), hangs out with me all the time, and even tells me when those shorts or too short, pants are too tight, or that dress is just too cute, when WE go shopping, lol. He simply keeps it REAL!

As I get closer to God, it seems that "the girls" don't call me to go out much, or my "friends" call only when they need something, but it surely doesn't hurt me like it used to. I realize that our interest are no longer the same, and everybody is not meant to be in my life forever. T.D. Jakes writes in his book, Before You Do: Making Great Decisions That You Won't Regret, "Some people are seasonal blessings loaned to you to perform a purpose and when the season is up and the purpose is completed they will leave. This is okay." Truth be told, sometimes God has to take people out of your life (or decrease their presence in it) so that He can bring forth new people. I've made some new friends who (though we may not talk everyday), I love dearly, are making a conscious effort to live for God, enjoy doing fun things besides going to the club, of whom have common interest, and are just as fabulous as God considers me to be! :-)

Sometimes, we as women, take our friendships very deeply, and when they come to an end or things change, it has a great impact on us. Nonetheless, God is our greatest friend, and he will never leave us lonely, spiritually or here on Earth. So the next time, sister girl stops answering your calls or acting funny, don't get upset or give her attitude, just take it in stride, knowing that God has a purpose for it all!

Don't Play With My Money!!!

So today, I am going about my workday, and I decided to check my bank account online. Low and behold, there were three charges on there that I had not made a store! I was furious!!! Not only were those charges there, but they left me broke until the next payday!!! I know in my Sista2Sista class (a class at my church for young women ages 18-35) we are talking about being slow to wrath and knowing the power of the tongue, but let me say I was MAD!!! So I am sitting in the class, fuming, waiting for the bell to ring, so that I can go on a conference period and call the bank. The messages from class were the furthest thing from my mind, but this was my first test for the week. I was so ready to go off on the customer service lady for the bank and the retailer (they were messing with my money! lol)! But, you know what, when you are trying to walk in God's will, He has a way of changing you even when you don't want to change in that moment. Do you know I called the bank and by the time the lady came to the phone, I was calm as can be, and politely said, "yes, I see somethings on my account that I do not remember purchasing recently." I totally wanted to yell and fuss and make a big deal of these issues, but is amazing how God knows my heart is for Him now, and knew just how to calm me and give me the words to say! Though I am disappointed by the situation and a bit upset with the retailer for their lack of professionalism and timeliness, I have the peace of God. I am no longer fuming, know God will take care of me, and can't help but smile at how God has changed me in a beautiful way. Let me just say, a year or so ago, I would have yelled at that lady, maybe called her a name or two, made sure I spoke with her manager, and wouldn't have hung up until they refunded me that money (even if it wasn't the bank's fault) lol!!!!

I know sometimes, we have tempers, sharp tongues, and stubborn attitudes, but God can really remove these negative attributes. Even when you don't want to hold your tongue or be slow to wrath, God has a way of making this very thing possible! When God sees that we have a heart for him and are thirsting for Him, He is pleased and works things out (even our tongues and tempers) even when we may not ask him to. God totally loves His stubborn children (like me)! :-)

What To Wear

Just because you are going to church (for a conference, worship service, or any other service or event), doesn't mean you can't look young and fierce!



Every woman needs a full skirt or dress (but if you have bigger hips, don't go too full). For those of you worried about your center area, the fullness of the skirt balances out your tummy issues, and purple is a wonderful color for all skin tones and symbolizes royalty (we are all Queens!).
I love me a basic tee. They can be worn with jeans or the fabulous pencil skirt shown above!



Anyone who knows me, knows I love a fab scarf, because they can add some fun to any outfit. This leopard scarf is composed of neutrals (brown, camel, black) which go with anything. Plus the scarf is just fun. It can be tied in a bow (of which I would do for this outfit) or just drape around the neck.
Every woman needs at least one blazer, and right now oversized blazers are so in right now! You can cinch the blazer with a brown or tan belt or just wear it open.



The bootie is in for spring and fall, so it makes a great transitioning shoe. I love the cutouts on the side, and a peep toe shoe, flatters almost any foot. (P.S. sorry for the poor shoe pic, I am new to this blogger thing, but this was the ideal shoe for this outfit).


I know some of you are stuck in that world where your shoes must match your handbag, but please step out of that world, lol. This bag is perfect for church, work, or hanging out. You can put as much or as little into this bag, and the color is luscious and a neutral which means it can go with so many outfits!!!



This outfit is great for church, but it can be worn to work, lunch with friends, or a little date with your honey:-).































Faith For The Impossile

Happy Monday lovelies!!! I had a wonderful weekend (with a bit of drama mixed in), and I hope you did too!! Saturday morning I went to a women's conference to hear my play mom speak, and ended up being enormously blessed!! The keynote speaker spoke on things that really resonated with me, premarital sex, believing i God to deal with your mountains, education, and simply having a strong faith in God, all under the subject, "Faith For the Impossible" (derived from Matthew 17: 16-20). I had been internally struggling with removing a certain sinful nature and action from my life, but not giving God full control to help me remove this thing. On Saturday, I really gave it over to God, and let me say by Sunday night, God made away for it to be removed from my life!! I know that I will only be able to resist sinful temptation (which I thought to be impossible) through God's help. Once I gave it over to God wholeheartedly, the impossible became possible, because I had complete faith in him. I don't know what you may be struggling with or wanting for your life, but please know that God is AWESOME, POWERFUL, and JUST, but He will only make the impossible happen when you have FAITH!!!!

Introductions Are Due...

My name is Quelle; I'm a 23 year old degreed fashionista, trying to make a conscious effort to live in God's will (which I am daily learning is no easy feat!). I don't always succeed in this daily goal, but I have peace in God's forgiveness and continue trying. It's not easy being 23 trying to live right, when many my age are living completely wrong. Nonetheless, I am growing in God and He is growing in me! I love all things fashion, creative, French, and fun, but finding the line between the old me and the new me in these areas (especially the fun part) is something I struggle with. Some (especially, young people) tend to think that just because a person gets serious about their relationship with God, they become a bore, but I just don't believe that has to be true (though I am naturally a bit of a laid back homebody ;-]). Feel free to join me on my journey of living in God's will and purpose (something I am still trying to figure out completely) with some fierceness mixed in! I pray that as I learn and grow in God, you will too!!
